FLOYDADA — The Serrato Sisters will be hosting a free breakfast for Floyd County on the Fourth of July and are still looking for businesses to sponsor the event.

The breakfast will take place starting at 7 a.m. at 214 S. Main St. in Floydada under the awning. Meals will include pancakes, sausage, hash browns, eggs and a biscuit. Meals will be prepared in to-go containers for convenience.

They're calling it a "throwback" breakfast, inspired by similar events in years past.

"My sisters and I were inspired by a previous free 4th of July breakfast that would take place in the Floydada Lowe’s parking lot years ago when we were kids," Yuleida Serrato said in an email to the Record. "We always looked forward to it every year until one day it stopped happening, we were inspired to bring it back."

That event was well attended but ceased almost a decade ago. The sisters felt their business location would be the best place to reincarnate this Floydada tradition.

"Since starting our business, we thought our location would be the perfect place to bring it back so here we are," Serrato said. "We figured since we had the platform to do so, so why not?"

But, she said, the sisters can't do it alone. They are still looking for donations to help fund the event.

"We are still looking for sponsors from both Floydada and Lockney businesses until June 15th," Serrato said, noting that those who sign up to sponsor before the deadline will receive a free t-shirt.

Sponsorship forms are available at Whirlwind Nutrition.
