LOCKNEY, TX – The Lockney Independent School District Board of Trustees is scheduled to hold its regular board meeting tonight, April 21, 2024, at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be conducted in compliance with Government Code 551 and in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible, with designated handicapped parking available.

The agenda outlines a full evening, beginning with establishing a quorum, a call to order, and an invocation. A public forum will allow for community participation before the board moves on to formal recognitions.

Student achievement will be in the spotlight, with recognition planned for the district’s powerlifting state qualifiers. The board will also honor retiring trustees Mike Lass and Billy Lefevre for their contributions to the district.

Routine matters include the review and approval of minutes from the previous meeting, payment of bills, and presentation of the financial report. A proposed budget amendment—Amendment No. 0414A1—will be considered to reflect an increase in federal revenue.

The board will deliberate and may take action on an agreement with Conterra Ultra Broadband, LLC. If approved, this agreement would transfer ownership of a monopole tower on district property from Conterra to the district. It also includes terms for the district’s withdrawal from litigation involving Conterra and the dismissal of any related claims.

Further agenda items include consideration of an extension for student accident insurance and approval of the TEKS-Based Instructional Materials Allotment for the 2025–2026 school year.

In personnel matters, the board will review resignations and is expected to affirm the hiring of Brittany Cuellar as the new counselor for Lockney ISD.

The meeting will conclude with a report from the superintendent, which will cover updates on enrollment, upcoming prom and graduation activities, and a reallocation of the claims account.

The board will then adjourn following completion of all scheduled business.
