Lady Winds Victorious in District Opener Over Lady Horns

FLOYDADA, TX – In a recent district softball matchup on March 17, 2025, the Floydada Lady Winds secured a decisive 18-0 victory over the Lockney Lady Horns. 

The game commenced with the Lady Winds delivering a dominant first inning, scoring 13 runs. They maintained their momentum by adding five more runs in the second inning. The match concluded after the top of the third inning, adhering to the run-rule policy.

Floydada Lady Winds:

Batting: The team achieved a .368 batting average, accumulating 12 hits, including three doubles, one triple, and one home run. Notably, freshman Bella Perez contributed by going 1-for-3, scoring three runs, and sophomore Madison Pyle went 1-for-2, scoring once and earning an RBI.

Baserunning: The Lady Winds showcased aggressive baserunning with a total of eight stolen bases.

Fielding: Defensively, they were flawless, committing no errors over 11 total chances.

Lockney Lady Horns:

Batting: The team struggled offensively, managing only one hit in ten at-bats, resulting in a .100 batting average. Sophomore Caelyn Jimenez secured the sole hit for the Lady Horns.

Fielding: Defensively, the Lady Horns faced challenges, committing two errors over nine total chances, leading to a .778 fielding percentage.

This victory improves the Lady Winds’ overall record to 16-5 and their district record to 1-0. The Lady Horns’ records now stand at 2-11 overall and 0-1 in district play.

The Lady Winds’ next game is scheduled against the Memphis Cyclones on March 21, 2025. The Lady Horns will aim to rebound in their upcoming matchup against the Clarendon Broncos on the same date.
