FLOYDADA, TX – Incumbent Paul Raissez will keep his job after defeating Ruben DeLeon in the race for Floyd County Sheriff Tuesday.

With more than half of Floyd County’s eligible voters turning out (58 percent), the Lockney native claimed 56 percent of the vote, while DeLeon, the challenger and a write-in candidate, picked up the other 44 percent.

“I’m looking forward to serving the citizens of Floyd County for another four years, and thank you to everyone who supported me through this election,” Raissez said following the count on Tuesday evening.

No other local races were contested, and in the Federal election, former President Donald J. Trump received 82 percent of the vote from Floyd County, while Kamala Harris claimed 17 percent. Incumbent Ted Cruz won 78 percent of the county-wide vote for U.S. Senator, to Colin Allred’s 20 percent.

Final results from the Presidential and Senatorial races will be posted on Wednesday morning.
