Clyde Walker (Lockney)
Clyde Walker Sr, aged 73, of Lockney, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on February 7, 2024, and was buried Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Lockney Cemetery.
He was born on April 22, 1950, the third of four children, in Plainview, Texas, to Lois Mosely and Lawrence Walker. Clyde lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to his country and community. He leaves behind a legacy cherished by his five children, a host of grandchildren, and a few GREAT grandchildren who will forever hold his memory dear. Clyde attended then segregated Booker T. Washington School before being transferred to Plainview High School, where he would graduate in 1968. Clyde was drafted into the US Army and proudly served his country in the United States Army as an ammunition specialist from 1969 to 1971 in Okinawa, Japan, demonstrating courage and commitment to his fellow soldiers and nation. He later married Maryland Walker. They would spend 43 years together. Clyde continued to work and serve his community as a musician, a Bible study teacher at church, and a maintenance tech at the local housing authority. Beyond his professional endeavors, Clyde was a devoted family man, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, willingness to lend a helping hand, and genuine compassion for others.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lois Mosley and Lawrence Walker, son James Louis Walker, and his additional child, Shanequa Wilson.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Clyde is survived by his five children: DeShelia Walker of Lubbock, Jacqueline Coleman of Oklahoma, Aneatria Johnson of Indiana, Clyde Walker Jr. of Lockney, Vanessa Walker-Lee of Lubbock, and his additional child LaJohntae English of Plainview. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
