Three Different Trash Fires Highlight Fire Department Report

FLOYDADA, TX – Trash burning led to three different calls to the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department in July.
Fire Department reports show that the department was busy on Independence Day with trash in a cattle trailer burning, then a small grass fire ignited by fireworks.
Two calls for a storage shed fire at 910 Menefee on July 22, 2023, resulted in a total loss.

  2. 7/4/2023 5:23 PM 2 miles south of US62/70 on FM651 Small grass fire along road. (Fireworks)
  3. 7/7/2023 1:20 PM 1 mile north on US70  Small grass fire along the highway.
  4. 7/12/2023 7:27 PM 209 E. Marvina Trash burning outside ignited the exterior of a house. The fire was extinguished.
  5. 7/22/2023 2:49 AM 910 Menefee Storage shed fire.  Complete loss.
  6. 7/22/2023 4:29 PM 910 Menefee Storage shed fire re-kindle.
  7. 7/26/2023 5:15 PM 629 E. Georgia Trash burning outside ignited an abandoned trailer house. The fire was extinguished.
