There are times in our life when we have to deal with pain, disappointment, loss, shame, and grief.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know exactly what to pray for?

King David faced similar challenges in the Old Testament, asking God, “Can you make sense of these ramblings, my groans and cries? King God, I need your help” (Psalms 1-3 The Message).

Again later in the Psalms (139:1-6), he says, “I’m an open book to you; even from a distance, you know what I’m thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I’m never out of your sight. You know everything I will say before I start the first sentence”.

Then in Romans, Paul writes, “The moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs and aching groans.”

Really what we see is that it isn’t so much what we say or how we say it; rather, it’s the process of going to God in the first place.

So whether in good times, bad times, or just a routine time, He’s patiently waiting to spend time with us even if we never say a word.
