FLOYDADA, TX – The trio of David Spriggs, Brock Smith, and Kent Tutor cruised to a two-shot victory over the weekend at the Red, White, and Blue golf tournament at Floydada Country Club.
The threesome shot an 87 to win the Championship Flight ahead of Lance Johnston, Rick Johnston, Bobby Samson’s 89, and the third-place finish from Andrew Stafford, Cameron Stafford, and Austin Taylor (90).
A total of 18 teams were signed up for the 27-hole scramble that had each group playing the red tees for nine holes, the white tees for nine, and finishing with the blue tees for the final nine.
Roger Emert from Floydada hit a hole-in-one on the final round on par 3 number two, helping his team in the First Flight to a second-place finish (with Mickey Givens and Rex Harrison). First place in the flight went to Seth McMinnville, Sean McMinnville, and Whitney Bingham, while Kevin Smith, Matthew Braidfoot, and Coke Fullingim took third.
In the Second Flight, first place went to Matt Abram, Jensen Davis, and Casey Daniel; second to Grant Cage, Hector Rodriguez, and Tracy Smith; and third to JB Lemon, Doug McCain, and David Majors.
The next tournament in Floyd County is June 10th, the second annual Cotton Invitational. The weekly Thursday Evening Scramble begins at 5:00 pm and is open to members and non-members with an entry fee of $10 per person; carts are $7.50 and include a potluck supper.
