Lady Winds Win Big in First Round of Playoffs

LUBBOCK, TX – The Floydada Lady Winds battled in the first round of the playoffs against the Post Lady Lopes on Thursday.

In the first game, the Lady Winds were playing as the home team and would strike first, scoring seven runs, and taking a 7-0 lead.

The Lady Winds offense wouldn’t slow down, as they were able to score five more runs and extend their lead in the bottom of the second to 12-0.

After adding two runs in the third inning, the Lady Winds would score four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 18-0.

Floydada would close the game out in the fifth inning and secure game one, 18-1.

Floydada’s Soriah Wickware had a career-high three home runs, totaling seven RBIs in the game one victory.

The Lady Winds were able to continue their momentum into game two as they began with six runs in the top of the first inning, going up 6-0.

Post was able to respond in the bottom of the first, scoring two and cutting the lead down to 6-2.

After scoring two runs in the second inning, the Lady Winds had a six-run third inning and one run in the fourth to go up 15-2.

Post was unable to respond, and Floydada would close the series out in the top of the fifth with seven more runs to claim the 22-2 victory and move on to the next round of the playoffs.

Floydada will play the winner of Quanah and Sanford-Fritch next week.
