
FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds hosted the Ralls Jackrabbits in a double header on Friday.
Due to weather conditions on Tuesday, the game in Ralls was rescheduled, and as a result, the Jackrabbits would act as the home team in the first game.
In the top of the first inning, the Whirlwinds were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead.
Ralls would tie the game in the bottom of the first, and in the bottom of the second, the Jackrabbits were able to score five more to take a 6-1 lead.
The Whirlwinds would try to fight back, cutting into the Jackrabbits lead with a three-run fourth inning to make it 6-4.
Ralls was able to defend their lead and would finish the Whirlwinds off in the sixth inning, securing the victory in the first game, 10-7.
In the second game, Ralls would lead the game off with a two-run first inning.
Floydada would respond with one run of their own in the bottom of the first, but the Jackrabbits would extend their lead in the second inning, 5-1.
The Whirlwinds were able to mount a comeback as they scored one run each in the bottom of the third and fourth innings and three runs in the fifth to tie the game at 6-6.
In the top of the seventh, the Jackrabbits would regain the lead, 8-7.
After the Winds tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, Kason Hughes was the hero for the Whirlwinds as he hit the walk-off single to secure the victory 9-8 in the second game.
