Beverly Holifield (Hereford)
Beverly Holifield, age 88, of Hereford, formerly of Lockney, passed away Friday, October 29, 2022. The funeral Service will be at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2022. Visitation will be before the service. Interment will follow at the Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.
Beverly was born October 8, 1934, in Crowell, Texas, to Earl and Gleynn Norman. In high school, she enjoyed playing basketball. She played for the Lockney team in 1950, where she was all-regional and 2nd team all-state playing in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. After high school, Beverly became a secretary for the FBI in Washington, DC. After returning home to Arkansas, she met the love of her life, Edward Holifield, at a hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, while he was visiting friends. They later married on May 29, 1957. After living most of their married life in Arkansas, Beverly and Ed returned to Lockney in 2013 to be closer to family. They were married for 57 years before Ed passed away on June 21, 2014.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Earl Norman and Gleynn Brian Norman, her husband; Edward Holifield, one brother; Joe Norman, and two sisters; Lynon Preston and Gleynn Earle Cummings.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory are her sister, Kay Hall of Hereford, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
