LUBBOCK, TX – The Lockney High School band fell five points shy of advancing to the UIL State Marching Band competition on Saturday performing “Agent Zero.”

Longhorn band director Robert Rumbelow guided his team to a sixth-place finish in the preliminaries and earned a top-ten spot in the finals on Saturday night with an overall eighth-place finish.

Floydada’s band also marched in the preliminaries, performing “Alien Invasion” but falling short of the opportunity to advance to the state contest on November 8, 2022, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

Two of the five schools from the Area A Marching competition that will advance are in Floydada’s district, including Sundown, the overall winner, and New Deal. Hale Center is in Lockney’s district and will also advance, along with bands from Panhandle and Forsan.
