FLOYDADA, TX- On Friday night, the Floydada Whirlwinds (6-3,3-1) ended senior night with a win over the Post Antelopes (2-7,1-3), 35-34.

Floydada had a 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter thanks to an Izaih Alvarado 9-yard touchdown pass to Andres Mendoza and a 66-yard run from Mendoza.

The Winds would fall behind in the third quarter, 28-14, but with 1:57 remaining, Alvarado found the endzone with a 7-yard run and ended the third quarter with a score of 28-21 in favor of Post.

Floydada would tie the game early in the fourth quarter behind a Ty Henderson to Saul Reyes 17-yard touchdown pass, making it 28-28.

The Antelopes scored the go-ahead touchdown with 5:11 left, but a crucial missed extra point put the Antelopes up 34-28.

The Whirlwinds were presented with one final opportunity to drive down the field, and with 1:31 left in the game, Henderson completed a 13-yard pass to Reyes to tie the game.

Leo Mendoza again came up big for the Whirlwinds as he drilled the extra point that would give them the lead, 35-34, and, ultimately, the win.

Floydada defended their perfect record at home (5-0) and will look to secure a second-place finish in district play next week in Olton against the Mustangs.
