FLOYDADA, TX – To create or retain primary jobs in the local area, the Floydada Economic Development Corporation (EDC) awarded just over $45,000 in the 2021-2022 fiscal year, which ended on September 30, 2022.
The seven-member board appointed by the City of Floydada met on Thursday morning in regular session, agreeing to partner with the city to build a Pickleball court (next to the city pool) for $14,000.
In addition, board members awarded reimbursements to JWP Outdoors for a portion of contractor fees on an upcoming building project and Azteca Cafe for kitchen and telecommunication equipment upgrades.
The direct business incentives for this past year were 174 percent greater than in the previous fiscal year ($25,836) and the most since 2018, when just over $30,000 was invested in growing business in the community.
The Floydada EDC is led by board president Wes Anderson and newly-named executive director Ryan Crowe.
