Abilene’s Hunter Mansker Wins Rainy 5k Punkin Run

FLOYDADA, TX – Despite a rainy start, Punkin Days got off to an early start with runners from across the state lining up to compete in the 5k Punkin Run on Saturday.

Overall, first place went to Hunter Mansker from Abilene with a time of 14:34, who also claimed first in the 17-29 year-old category.

Second place went to Hailey Odom from Ft. Worth with a time of 17:42 (and second 17-29 category).

First place in the 50-plus year old category went to Floydada’s Mario Pinon (19:00), which was good enough for third place overall.

Anna Valadez from Floydada was first to cross the line in the 30-49 year old category (20:00).

Steve McDaniel of Lampasas is on a quest to run in all 254 counties in Texas, and with his second-place finish in the 50-plus category (23:01), he can now mark Floyd County off his list.

The 5k Punkin Run awards medals for the top three finishers in each age category, hands out a souvenir t-sheet for all participants, and is a fund-raiser for the Floydada Collegiate High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) chapter.
