Eric Cervantez Fierro, Jr. was born on August 14th, 1988, in San Angelo, Texas, the son of Santa & Gilbert Garza. He and his wife Keyla Fierro (nee Pesina), originally from Floydada, TX, were lovingly married in Floydada in a ceremony at her parent’s home on July 30th, 2016, and had three children: Caroline Arabella (5), Amaya Elise (3), and Emilia Shaylene (1 mo.) He resided in Bovina, Texas and worked as a football, basketball, and track coach and History and Government teacher. His latest assignment was at Bovina High School, but he had taught at various other high schools statewide for nine years – including Floydada High School. He was voted “Coach of the Year” while head baseball coach at Winters High School. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History from Angelo State University in 2013 and was a Cum Laude graduate of Ozona High School, Class of 2006.
Eric was a loving husband and “Dada,” and his pride and joy were being a “girl dad” to his three sweet girls. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife and girls, traveling most recently to Colorado and the Grand Canyon. And he greatly enjoyed his home life as a father, coming home to his girls screaming for “Dada” and sharing movie nights with them. He was also a determined and goal-oriented young man, having followed closely in the footsteps of his brother and sister, Derek and Erika, to earn his college degree. To his mother, Santa, he was and always will be her baby.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Socorro & Felipe Castro and Maclovio & Anadelia Fierro, all of Ozona, Texas; uncles Eginio Castro and Albert Ramos of Ozona, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 6 wonderful years, Keyla Fierro, and young daughters Caroline, Amaya, and Emilia, of Bovina, TX; mother and father Santa & Gilbert Garza of Ozona; sister Erika Fierro and her fiancé John of San Antonio; brother Derek Fierro of San Antonio; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who sometimes affectionately called him “Bubbles,” a nickname given to him by his closest aunt and uncle, Belia & Lalo Garza of Ozona, Texas.
