FLOYDADA – The Floydada Whirlwinds are now in a waiting mode to see what their playoff chances will be after falling to the Ralls Jackrabbits 7-4 on Friday at Watson Field. The Jackrabbits got a series sweep of the Whirlwinds which included a 5-1 win on Tuesday in Ralls.
Ralls scored in four innings, including a pair of runs in the third, fifth and sixth frames. Floydada tried to keep up by scoring two runs in each the third and sixth innings. The Jackrabbits outhit the Whirlwinds 7-4 for the game.
Each team had a pair of doubles – Javier Santos and Juan Gonzales for Floydada, while Ryno Garcia and Luke Ovalle each had a extra hit for Ralls.
The Whirlwinds now have to wait and see how Post finishes their season with a series against the winless Olton Mustangs coming up Tuesday and Saturday. If Post sweeps that series, there will be a Floydada-Post play-in game for fourth place.
The Whirlwinds will play Springlake-Earth in a non-district game on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. 106.1 FLiP FM will have the game.
