LUBBOCK – The Floydada Lady Winds outscored the Olton in the first and third quarters to see it slip away in the fourth stanza to fall 47-44 to the Olton Fillies in their Bi-District playoff game on Monday night at Lubbock Coronado’s Mustang Gym.
The disappointing three point loss ends Floydada’s season at 19-9 after earning a District 4-2A Co-Championship with the Hale Center Lady Owls.
Sophomore point guard Zay Santos had another good game of scoring 14-points including a trio of 3-pointers from the arc. Erin Trevino and Kaitlyn Ramirez each made a pair of 3-pointers. Floydada was 6-of-10 at the free throw line.
The games’ high scorer was Olton’s Kaylee Noack with 15, followed by Analise Ramage with 10. Floydada lost both of their encounters with Olton this season. The Fillies defeated the Lady Winds by four points at Whirlwind Gym on November 12.
Erin Trevino and Celese Wickware are the only seniors that will be lost to graduation. The last time the Lady Winds shared a district championship in basketball was in 2002.
