FLOYDADA — Sophomore Sierra Snowden scored a the most individual points of all players this season with 22 to pace the Floydada Lady Winds (8-5) to a 60-41 win over the Lorenzo Lady Hornets on Day 1 of the Whirlwind Classic at Whirlwind Gym on Thursday.
Snowden had a solid game in the paint by scoring 11 2-point goals. A number of her baskets came after snaring a rebound.
Floydada outscored Lorenzo 37-17 in the second and fourth quarters to get the win. Lorenzo held a slight edge in the first and third quarters by a 24-23 margin.
Senior forward Celeste Wickware and junior guard Danielle Zavala both chipped in 12 points each.
