Floydada Lady Winds 60, Lorenzo Lady Hornets 35
FLOYDADA — The Lady Winds evened their season record to 2-2 by running past the Lorenzo Lady Hornets 60-35 at Whirlwind Gym on Tuesday. Floydada had a big second quarter, out-scoring Lorenzo 20-4 to take a 26-13 lead at halftime. The Lady Winds continued to win each quarter of the second half and cruised to the 25-point win, their biggest margin of victory this season.
Three Floydada players scored in he double figures led by senior Erin Trevino with 16 points,
followed by sophomore Sierra Snowden with 12, and junior Dani Zavala had 10.

FLOYDADA — The Whirlwinds played like a locomotive in the season opener by getting stronger each quarter in taking a 59-39 over the Lorenzo Hornets at Whirlwind Gym Tuesday. Floydada has had three consecutive 20-win seasons (2021 – 21-5; 2020 – 27-6; 2019 – 21-8), and the confidence seemed to carry over to the new team in their debut for the 2021-22 campaign.
Sophomore Abram Castillo led the Whirlwinds with 20 points, while freshman Ty Henderson added 15.
Floydada’s roster includes three seniors (Charlie Contreras, Nathaniel Garza, Brandon Marquez), four juniors (Jayson Cooper, Phillip Rodriguez, Saul Reyes, Brett Brittain), two sophomores (Abram Castillo, Aiden Trevino) and two freshmen (Ty Henderson, Braun Hobbs).
