LOCKNEY, TX -A cherished tradition at Lockney Elementary School returns this week as fourth-grade students prepare to bring Texas history to life through the annual Wax Museum. Originally started by former fourth-grade teacher Jeri Rexrode, the event is now carried on by current teacher Sarah Carstensen, continuing its legacy of engaging students in both historical research and public speaking.
Set to take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. in the Lockney Elementary cafeteria, the Wax Museum will feature 25 student “exhibits.” Each student will portray a notable figure from Texas history, sharing what they’ve learned through a short, memorized presentation.
This year’s event introduces an interactive element: visitors will be encouraged to drop coins—pennies, nickels, dimes, or quarters—into a container to activate each wax figure’s performance. The collected donations will support the upcoming fifth-grade trip to the Alamo and the Texas State Capitol next month.
Guests are welcome to attend the event during the scheduled time. Upon arrival at the main entrance of the elementary school, visitors will be greeted and escorted to the cafeteria to enjoy the living museum experience.
