Floydada FFA Members Shine Across Texas Livestock Shows

FLOYDADA, TX – Floydada FFA livestock exhibitors have had an active and successful season, participating in numerous stock shows across Texas following the Floyd County Stock Show.

At the Fort Worth Stock Show, a strong group of steer exhibitors represented Floydada FFA. Participants included David Sanchez, Rilynn Hinsley, Justin Torres, Enzo Coursey, Parker Kellison, Paislee Nutt, Stetson Nutt, Blaine Yeary, Caydance Yeary, and DJ Coursey, all of whom showcased their steer projects.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo brought home ribbons for several students. Rilynn Hinsley earned first place with her Heavy Weight Charolais, while David Sanchez took fifth place with his Duroc Barrow and eleventh place with his steer. Additional exhibitors at the Houston event included Justin Torres (steer/barrow), Payten Shuping (barrow), DJ Coursey (barrow/steer), Armando Chavarria (barrow), Parker Kellison (steer), Sydni Chesshir (lamb/goat), and Enzo Coursey (barrow/steer).

At the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, held February 6–23, several students achieved impressive results. Sydni Chesshir placed ninth with her Medium Wool Lamb, Blaine Yeary earned fourth place with his Hereford steer, and Parker Kellison secured second place with his Charolais Heifer. Other Floydada FFA members exhibiting in San Antonio included Rilynn Hinsley, Payten Shuping, Paislee Nutt, Stetson Nutt, Armando Chavarria, David Sanchez, Justin Torres, and Caydance Yeary.

The San Angelo Livestock Show, held February 2–17, also saw a strong showing from Floydada students. David Sanchez was awarded Supreme Champion Gilt at the Junior Star Show, along with additional placings in the Duroc and Chester categories. Justin Torres earned first place in the Junior Star Show’s Dark Cross category, while Addison Hinson placed in both the Junior Star and Junior Breeding shows. Manny Delafunte secured second place in both the Junior Star and Breeding Berk categories. Parker Kellison earned first place with his Charolais Heifer, and Alyanna Rendon received multiple honors in the rabbit divisions.

Additional San Angelo exhibitors included Sydni Chesshir (lamb), Alli Hernandez (gilt), Payten Shuping (barrow), Natalie Garza (gilt), Jerald Henderson (gilt), Marisol Delafunte (gilt), Braden Eddleman (gilt), Sophia Davis (gilt), Mia Casares (gilt), Stetson Nutt (steer), and Paislee Nutt (steer).

In Austin, at the livestock show held March 7–18, Rilynn Hinsley placed ninth with her steer, Caydance Yeary earned eighth place, and Armando Chavarria placed ninth in the Light Cross Barrow category. Also showing at Austin were Sydni Chesshir (lamb), Payten Shuping (barrow), Justin Torres (barrow), and Blaine Yeary (steer).

At the Texas Elite Showcase in Kerrville, held February 8–12, Armando Chavarria placed seventh with a Berk gilt and tenth with a Dark Cross gilt.

Finally, at the Sandhill Cattle Show, Blaine Yeary placed fourth with his Hereford steer, while Paislee Nutt exhibited her heifer.

Floydada FFA students continue to demonstrate dedication and excellence in livestock showing, proudly representing their chapter across the state.
