LOCKNEY, TX — In a wild, high-scoring affair Tuesday night, the Clarendon Broncos powered past the Lockney Longhorns 22-15 in a game packed with offensive fireworks and momentum swings.
The Broncos jumped out early with two runs in the first, but Lockney answered back in the second with an impressive 11-run outburst to take control. However, Clarendon stormed back in a huge way in the third inning, plating 16 runs to flip the game on its head and take a commanding lead they would never relinquish.
Despite trailing by double digits, the Longhorns showed grit, adding two runs in both the fourth and sixth innings. Clarendon, however, padded their lead with three more runs in the sixth and an additional run in the seventh to seal the deal.
Clarendon totaled 12 hits and took advantage of eight Lockney errors, while the Longhorns collected eight hits of their own but struggled defensively throughout the game.
With a combined 37 runs scored between the two teams, it was a night dominated by bats, but Clarendon’s explosive third inning proved to be the difference-maker in the end.
