LOCKNEY, TX – Lockney Independent School District is reminding residents that classes will be in session tomorrow, marking an adjustment to the usual school calendar. This additional school day is scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2025, and students will be expected to attend as usual, with classes beginning at their regular time.

The change comes as a result of a decision made earlier this month when severe weather and dangerously high winds prompted the district to cancel classes on March 14, 2025. The cancellation allowed students and staff to begin their Spring Break a day earlier than originally planned. However, to ensure that instructional time remains on track, the district has scheduled a makeup day, which falls outside of the standard school week.

Lockney ISD traditionally operates on a four-day school week, meaning students and staff typically do not have classes on Fridays. The addition of Monday, March 31, as a school day marks a temporary change to the 2024-2025 academic calendar. Parents and guardians are encouraged to ensure that students are prepared for the extra school day and to make any necessary adjustments to their schedules.

The district appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation in making this scheduling change. Officials emphasize that the safety of students and staff remains a top priority, and while the earlier decision to cancel school was made in response to hazardous weather conditions, the makeup day will help maintain the continuity of learning for all students.

For further updates or additional information, parents and students can check the Lockney ISD website or contact school administrators directly.
