FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Collegiate High School academic team delivered a strong performance at the recent district UIL competition, securing third place overall among seven schools. The event, held in Floydada, showcased students competing in a wide range of academic disciplines, including writing, debate, mathematics, and science.
Assistant Principal Laura Zepeda expressed gratitude for the efforts of faculty, staff, and volunteers who contributed to the event’s success. “I felt like we had a great teamwork effort in pulling off a great day,” Zepeda said. “The food was so good, so thank you to those that helped in there as well. Thank you for all the timing and grading, answering questions, and running around that you all did.”
Floydada introduced new events this year, including CX and LD debate, and saw success in One-Act Play (OAP) and essay competitions. The school will be sending multiple students to regionals, with potential wild card entries for some second-place teams. The regional competition is set for April 25 at West Texas A&M University.
