Hospital Visits Increased in January Along With Expenses

LOCKNEY, TX—While W.J. Mangold and Cogdell Clinic’s volume increased during January, expenses outweighed revenue, leading to a net loss of $96,787.

During the most recent meeting of the Lockney General Hospital District, Vince DiFranco explained that hospital service volumes in January were higher than in previous months. Clinic providers received 898 visits, including 58 new patients.

In January, there were twelve acute admissions for 43 patient days and 16 observation patients, while the Emergency Room totaled 244 visits for the month. There was an increase in Flu, COVID, and Strep Cases.

The Lab performed 4,297 tests, and the Radiology volume was 310 for the month, including 57 CT scans.

Total gross revenue (charges) for the month of January was $2,101,579, compared to a budget of $1,959,992 and $1,861,507 in January 2024, with other operating revenue at $106,928. Adjustments were $1,270,885. Overall expenses were above budget at $1,123,547 due to increased supply expenses. The additional non-operating revenue of $82,138 brought the net loss to $96,787 for the month.
