LOCKNEY, TX—Lockney Independent School District (ISD) is thrilled to announce the appointment of its new superintendent, ushering in a new chapter of leadership and growth for the district. This new leadership figure is expected to bring fresh ideas and a renewed commitment to excellence in education for Lockney ISD students.

The incoming superintendent brings a wealth of education experience and a strong vision for the future. Known for their dedication to academic achievement and fostering a supportive learning environment, the new superintendent is eager to engage with students and staff to continue building upon the district’s successes.

Below is the news release from the Current Superintendent, Jim Baum.

The Lockney Independent School District Board of Trustees proudly announced Steve Reynolds as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools on March 10, 2025. By state statute, the Board must now wait 21 days before taking action to employ Mr. Reynolds.

Mr. Reynolds has 18 years of experience in Texas public schools and is returning to the South Plains after serving as Superintendent at Frost ISD since 2022. Prior to that, he served as the Superintendent of Adrian ISD and as a Principal at Meadow ISD. Mr. Reynolds has also served as an educator for Lubbock ISD, Clarendon ISD, and Memphis ISD. He and his sweet wife, Missy, a fellow educator, have been married for thirty-six years and have four children and eight grandchildren. Their daughter Taylor will be a 7th grader in the fall. The Reynolds enjoy spending time on their family farm and family trips to the beach. They look forward to becoming part of the Lockney ISD School Community and we look forward to benefitting from their involvement.
