FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 24th, 2025, the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the 200 block of East Locust Street in Lockney after deputies found a stolen pickup truck and water trailer. Deputies also discovered several stolen items from the Darty Gin that had been reported earlier that morning. Christina Rangel, 48, and Ryan Rangel, 25, of Lockney, were arrested in connection with the Burglary at Darty Gin.

On January 31st, the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a suspicious vehicle around the Lakeview community. The deputy stopped the suspicious vehicle, which was occupied by four juveniles with multiple stolen TXDOT traffic signs. The juveniles were all released to their parents.

On February 1st, a deputy was dispatched to the 1400 block of State Highway 207 to resolve a dispute over some hay bales. The issue was resolved before the deputy left the scene.

On February 2nd, the Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls from the 100 block of East Guest concerning several gunshot victims. When officers and Lockney Fire/EMS arrived, they found no active shooter; rather, the caller was hallucinating due to drug use. Christopher Torrez, 32, of Lockney, was arrested for False Report to Induce an Emergency Response.

On February 2nd, a deputy was sent to the 2000 block of US Highway 70 to investigate a stolen 500-gallon water trailer. The complainant described the trailer as rusty in color.

On February 4th, the Sheriff responded to the 400 block of West Mississippi regarding a 911 hang-up. Once on scene, the Sheriff met with the caller, who reported that her intoxicated boyfriend had assaulted her. Jose Urquin, 26, of Floydada, was arrested for Assault and Family Violence.

On February 4th, a deputy was dispatched to Allsup’s in Lockney regarding a female who had been assaulted. Further investigation led to the arrest of Sean Rendon, 20, of Lockney, for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. A second suspect, identified as Joe Nunez, 29, of Lockney, was also involved in this case and has an active warrant for his arrest.

On February 6th, the Sheriff’s Office received a call about a theft in the 3400 block of FM 1958. The complainant reported that he had just discovered that an acquaintance had stolen tools and engine parts over several months. This case is still under investigation.

On February 6th, a deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of SW 1st Street in Lockney to investigate a report of someone shining a flashlight into the complainant’s home. Once the deputy arrived, Joe Nunez, 29, of Lockney, was taken into custody for an active warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and criminal trespass.

On February 8th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop south of Floydada on the Ralls Highway for speeding. Upon further investigation and Standardized Field Sobriety test being performed, Alex Orozco-Saucedo, 21, of Plainview, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon.

On February 9th, a deputy stopped a 2006 Chevy west of Akin for an equipment violation. Upon further investigation and Standardized Field Sobriety test being performed, Naudia Pando, 22, of Plainview, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

On February 16th, a deputy stopped a Black Ford on US 70 for a traffic violation. The deputy administered Standardized Field Sobriety. Further investigation led the deputy to contact the Floyd Count K9 unit. K9 conducted an open-air sniff of the violator’s vehicle. K9 alerted on the car, and the driver, Francisco Ascencio, 50, of Lockney, was arrested for manufacturing delivery of a Controlled Substance 1>= 4 grams (methamphetamine) and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

On February 20th, a deputy responded to the 400 block of Southeast 4th Street in Lockney about a woman whose ex-boyfriend had sexually assaulted her and held her against her will at her home in the 700 block of North Main Street. Arrest warrants have been issued for Alberto Guerrero Jr, 38, of Lockney, for Aggravated Sexual Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Theft of a Firearm. On February 22nd, a deputy was dispatched to an address located at 100 West Ollie in response to a report from a caller concerning threatening phone calls and text messages received from their estranged spouse. This case is still under investigation.

On February 23rd, while a deputy attempted to pull over a speeding motorcycle on Houston Street in Floydada, the rider sped off. The deputy and Floydada Police chased him for four miles until they successfully boxed in the motorcycle rider, bringing the pursuit to a safe end. Julian Garcia, 34, of Hobbs, New Mexico, was arrested for Evading Arrest Detention in a Motor Vehicle.

On February 25th, a deputy stopped a 2006 Toyota Tundra for speeding on US 70. Upon the deputy making contact with the driver, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle, giving the deputy probable cause to search the car. Alenn Bryant, 53, of Alabama, was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance 1g>=4g, unlawful possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Possession of a Dangerous Drug.
