FLOYDADA, TX – The following is a recent Crime Report from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office.
On January 2, a Deputy was dispatched to 700 Block of North Main in Lockney regarding a Burglary and Assault. The complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend had entered the home, assaulted her with a screwdriver, and sustained minor injuries. The case is still under investigation.
On January 4th, a Deputy was dispatched to 400 SW 1st Street in Lockney regarding an unwanted person on the complainant’s property. The suspect was served with a criminal trespass warning.
On January 8, a deputy was sent to 100 West Hartman Street, Lockney, to investigate a burglary. Adrian Luna was arrested for the burglary of a habitation.
On January 13, Jonathan Urrutia was arrested in the 200 Block of East Locust on an active Floyd County warrant for Burglary of a Habitation with intent to commit another Felony. Upon further investigation during the traffic stop, deputies located a firearm and methamphetamine in the vehicle. Urrutia was arrested for Felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
On January 18th, a traffic stop was conducted on US Hwy 70 in Lockney on a white Chevrolet Impala for speeding. The deputy conducted a plain-view search of the traffic violator’s vehicle and found opioid medication. Marcelino Mendoza was arrested for Possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 2 < 1 gram and Possession of a controlled substance Penalty Group 3 <28 grams.
On January 19th, a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 700 Block of North 2nd Street, Floydada, on a silver Chevrolet Malibu for defective equipment. During contact with the driver, the deputy detected the odor of alcohol from the driver, and upon further investigation, John Mendez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
On January 19th, a deputy was dispatched to the Floyd and Hale County line on Highway 70 to investigate a dispute between two individuals during a child custody exchange. When the deputy arrived, one of the parties had left the scene. This case is still under investigation.
On January 24, the Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the 200 Block of East Locust Street in Lockney after deputies found a stolen pickup truck and water trailer. Deputies also discovered several stolen items from the Darty Gin that had been reported earlier that morning. This case is still under investigation, and a suspect has been identified.
