LOCKNEY, TX — February 3, 2025 – The City of Lockney has issued an important notice regarding trash collection services. Due to unforeseen mechanical issues, the city’s trash truck is currently out of service and undergoing repairs. Officials anticipate the vehicle will be back in operation by mid-week, at which time Rudy will resume his regular routes.

In the meantime, residents are asked to be patient and understanding as the city works to address the situation. We know trash collection is a vital service, and we are doing everything we can to minimize disruptions.

In addition to the service delay, the city is reminding residents of the following items that are strictly prohibited from being thrown in the dumpsters. Some of these items are believed to be the cause of the truck’s mechanical failure:

Large household appliances (e.g., refrigerators, stoves)
Electronics (e.g., televisions, computers)
Construction debris (e.g., lumber, drywall)
Hazardous materials (e.g., batteries, chemicals)
Residents are encouraged to properly dispose of these items at designated recycling centers or through special collection programs.

By adhering to these guidelines, we can prevent further damage to our equipment and ensure smooth service moving forward.

The city appreciates residents’ patience during this temporary disruption and thanks everyone for their cooperation. For updates or more information, residents are advised to contact City Hall directly.
