Floyd-Briscoe Farm Bureau Hosts Youth Discussion Meet, Highlights Local Talent and Future Leaders in Agriculture

FLOYDADA, TX –Last week, the Floyd-Briscoe Farm Bureau hosted the annual Youth Discussion Meet, an event designed to engage young minds in important agricultural discussions while promoting leadership skills and fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the agricultural industry.

The meet, held in Floydada, saw a diverse group of talented students from Floydada, Lockney, and Silverton take center stage to debate and discuss a variety of timely topics that impact the future of farming, ranching, and rural communities.

Engaging Conversations, Future Leadership

Participants were presented with a range of topics related to agriculture, rural issues, and policy development, and each had the opportunity to speak, share their perspectives, and interact with their peers in a structured discussion format. The event encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, providing students with the tools they need to become informed and passionate advocates for the agricultural community.

“We are incredibly proud of all of our participants who took part in this year’s Youth Discussion Meet,” said Alejandra Ramirez, Floydada FFA Advisor. “These students represent the next generation of leaders who will shape the future of agriculture. The thoughtful and insightful conversations that took place this week are a testament to the dedication and intelligence of our young people.”

The Floydada delegation was well-represented at the event, with six talented students participating and showcasing their knowledge and speaking abilities. Among them were:

Lockney and Silverton Participants Also Shine

In addition to the Floydada students, participants from neighboring communities also brought their A-game to the Discussion Meet. Lockney’s Nick Cervantes and Adrian Jimenez, as well as Silverton’s Graham Sanders, added their voices to the conversation, further enriching the discussion and representing their communities with pride.

 

Scholarship Winners Announced

At the close of the event, several outstanding participants were recognized for their exceptional performance, with scholarships awarded to the following students:

1st Place — Amelia Snowden – $1500 scholarship
2nd Place — Kirsten Pyle – $1000 scholarship
3rd Place — Sydni Chesshir – $500 scholarship
4th Place — Adrian Jimenez – $300 scholarship
These scholarships not only reward the hard work and dedication of the winners but also serve as an investment in their future education and continued involvement in the agricultural sector.
