FLOYD COUNTY, TX – The Walk Across Texas! Community Challenge in Floyd County officially kicked off on January 15th, 2025, and is already encouraging residents to get active and take steps toward better health. Healthy Texas Youth Ambassadors, Mia Snowden from Floydada and Kaileigh Cook from Lockney, introduced the program to elementary students across both towns last week, sparking excitement for the challenge.

While the program began with a focus on elementary students, the challenge is open to people of all ages! Natalie Snowden, with Floyd County 4-H, invites everyone in the community to join in, regardless of age or fitness level. Whether you’re walking alone or as part of a team, this is an opportunity to get moving, stay active, and have fun while working toward a common goal.

If you haven’t signed up yet or joined a team, it’s not too late! You can still sign up for Walk Across Texas until January 24th. The challenge will continue through March 11, 2025, so there’s plenty of time to track your steps and participate.

For more details or to sign up, please contact the County Extension office at 806-983-4912. Let’s walk, move, and make our community healthier together!
