FLOYDADA, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds were in district action on Friday as they hosted the New Home Leopards.
The Whirlwinds were able to jump out to an early 21-15 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Both teams went back and forth in the second quarter and would go into halftime with Floydada leading 35-30.
Floydada maintained their lead in the second half and would hold off a late push from the Leopards to give them a 65-62 win.
The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by senior Sergio Valadez with 26 points.
Also contributing to the win on Friday was senior Braun Hobbs with 22 points.
