LOCKNEY, TX – In November, Mr. Baum shared with the LISD School Board his decision to retire from his role in education at the close of the 2024-2025 school year.
He states in a post on the Lockney ISD Facebook page “It has truly been an honor to serve the Lockney ISD community, and I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to work alongside such dedicated educators, students, and community members.”
At the December School Board meeting, the LISD Board asked for Mr. Baum’s assistance in posting the position of Superintendent for Lockney ISD. As the district moves forward, Mr. Baum is excited to see the district continue to grow and thrive under new leadership. Baum says “If you know of a qualified candidate who may be interested in this important role, please encourage them to explore the opportunity.” The details about the position can be found on the ESC Region 17 website at www.esc17.net as well as the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) website at www.tasanet.org. The position will also be posted on the Lockney ISD website and additional ESC websites starting next week.
As Baum was reflecting on his time at Lockney ISD, he says “it has truly been a privilege to work alongside this outstanding School Board and the incredible staff and students of our district over the past eight years. Together, we have made strides in enhancing the quality of education and building a strong foundation for future success. While I will miss my role here, I am filled with optimism for the district’s continued progress and the exciting opportunities that lie ahead.”
He extended his deepest gratitude to all who have supported him and the district throughout the years, especially those who have prayed for the well-being of the LISD students, faculty, and staff. That type of support has meant the world to Mr. Baum..
As Lockney ISD prepares for the transition, Mr. Baum is looking forward to joining and supporting the search for new leadership and ensuring a seamless transition that will continue to move Lockney ISD forward.
Mr. Jim Baum wishes to thank Lockney and Floyd County once again for allowing him the privilege to serve this wonderful community.
