LOCKNEY, TX – November 22nd was a very exciting day at Lockney Elementary school as the 2nd grade students took the time over the last few days getting ready to do a short readers theater for each grade level.

The reader’s theater was a skit on The First Thanksgiving. Second grader Eleanor Aguilera was the Narrator while Kyler Villarreal was King James.

Mrs. Zuniga’s homeroom played the Pilgrims and Mrs. Morris’s class played the Powhatans.

This was a brief story about the Pilgrims leaving England in hopes of religious freedom and landed on Plymouth Rock. They didn’t know how to plant crops and were struggling to survive and the Powhatans offered some help and taught them to farm.

What a great time to share this with Lockney ISD starting Thanksgiving Break today when school releases.

Lockney will resume school on Monday, December 2, 2024.
