Floyd County Feels One of Many Earthquakes Today

FLOYDADA, TX—Residents of Floyd County could feel a slight rumbling this morning following a 5.0 earthquake near Snyder, TX.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter was 8 miles NNE of Hermleigh and 2 miles below the surface.

The area has been a hotbed of tremors over the past two days, beginning with a 2.6 quake on Thursday, a 5.0 at 9:28 a.m. today, and a 3.2 aftershock at 9:40 a.m.

(UPDATE) As of 3:21 pm, seven earthquakes have been recorded around Hermleigh, with the 5.0 from earlier on Friday still the biggest.
