Herman William Galloway, age 91, of Idalou, formerly of Floydada, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2024 at the Methodist Church of Idalou with reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
Internment will be prior to the services at the Floydada Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore Rose Funeral Home of Idalou.
Herman, also lovingly known as Buck or Clem, was born on September 5, 1932 in Hereford, to John and Maude Galloway. He graduated from Floydada High School in 1949. On July 18, 1953 he married the love of his life, Patricia Patterson in Meadow at the Methodist Church. They were married 71 years. Herman farmed and worked in the construction business, starting his own company Galloway Construction. He built countless homes from the ground up, mostly in the Floydada and Petersburg area.
The family moved from Floydada to Idalou in 1972. He served in his community in many ways, including on the Idalou School Board.
After retirement, the construction continued. He was involved in numerous projects, whether it be for family and friends or at the Methodist Church in Idalou, including a remodel of the Fellowship Hall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scottie Lance Galloway, his brother, Ben Galloway and sisters, Bessie Wilson and Hazel Goodjoin.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Renee Wilbanks and husband Kyle of Idalou, Gary Galloway and wife Jeannie, Kayla and husband John Weigand; grandchildren, Katy Gibbs and husband Trevor of Amarillo, Kase Wilbanks of Lubbock, Kix Wilbanks of Lubbock, Cody and Chad Galloway, Mitch, Tony and Savanah Weigand; great grandchildren, Harper and Hazely Gibbs, and several nieces and nephews.
