FLOYDADA, TX – Five years ago, amid the coronavirus closings, Kiana Brown and Kylie Ricketts returned home as college campuses closed.

Deciding that they wanted to avoid staying sheltered inside, and with few job opportunities available, the Floydada High School graduates decided to open their own business – The Scoop.

Though both have moved on – Brown lives in Kansas and is pursuing a nursing career while Ricketts (now Allen) is teaching and coaching in O’Donnell – their idea and small business continues. Instead of the friends operating the business daily, current and former FHS students now keep the milkshakes flowing and lemonade fresh.

The Scoop officially opened for the season on Sunday, Mother’s Day, at 1234 South Ralls Highway and continues to offer ice cream, edible cookie dough, drinks, and specialty items daily from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
