LUBBOCK, TX – The Floydada Whirlwinds battled the #21-ranked Farwell Steers in the Regional Quarterfinals of the playoffs on Tuesday night.
Farwell got ahead early in the game to take a 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Whirlwinds began to add pressure to the Steers in the second quarter, outscoring them 22-9, and Floydada would go into halftime with a 34-24 lead.
In the third quarter, the Whirlwinds offense struggled to generate points, while Farwell went on a run to regain the lead, 42-41, going into the fourth quarter.
Floydada closed the game late in the fourth quarter to secure a 59-53 win over Farwell to advance to the Regional Semifinal.
The Whirlwinds were led in scoring by junior Ty Henderson, who scored 18 points and three rebounds.
Senior Aiden Trevino had 15 points in the win and put the game out of reach with late-game free throws.
