PLAINVIEW, TX – The Floydada Lady Winds were in playoff action on Friday as they were matched up against the Gruver Lady Hounds.
The Lady Winds started the game with a 16-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Gruver’s defense held Floydada to just 1 point in the second quarter and took the lead 27-17 going into halftime.
Floydada would fight back in the second half, outscoring Gruver 14-8 in the third quarter but still trailing 35-31.
In a back-and-forth fourth quarter, Floydada trailed 41-40 with eleven seconds left, and senior Zay Santos hit two free throws to go up by one and then one more to secure the victory, 43-41.
The Lady Winds will advance to the regional quarterfinals against Farwell on Monday.
