Shirley was born on March 28, 1938, in Graham, Texas, to J. D. and Gladys (McCann) Orr. She married Raymond Morton in Graham on August 25, 1956.
Shirley spent most of her career working 42 years for Lighthouse Electric Cooperative in Floydada. She loved traveling, shopping, watching sports on TV, and eating out with friends. She was a very generous and giving person, as she served as a Sunday school teacher, took meals to those in need, volunteered with the American Cancer Society, and was a member of the 1950 Study Club. She also demonstrated generosity by organizing retirement parties, holiday parties, and other work events at Lighthouse Electric. Shirley always had a smile and a heart for giving to those within her community. But to Shirley, the family was everything! So many hours were spent attending her grandkids’ school events, dance recitals, ball games, and band concerts. She cherished family trips and get-togethers and was always there to lend an ear or a shoulder to cry on. Her life was truly a model of a servant’s heart!
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Morton; parents, J.D. and Gladys Orr; sister, Sandra House; and nephew, Lance House.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Melinda Turner and husband Kelly of Lubbock, and Julie Ellison and husband Craig of Graham; grandchildren Alison Turner, Kyler Ellison and wife Shelby, Konner Ellison, and wife Emylee; and Avery Willis and husband Lee; great-grandchildren, Karson, Dallas, Kamreigh, Kreyton, Holden, and Kohen; brother in law, Jim House; and sister in law Betty Morton.
