NEW DEAL, TX – The #7 Floydada Whirlwinds were in action against the New Deal Lions on Tuesday.
In the first quarter, both teams went back and forth, but the Whirlwinds ended the quarter ahead 18-16.
The Whirlwinds were able to slow down the Lions’ offense and extend their lead going into halftime, 35-25.
Coming out of halftime, the Lions outscored Floydada 18-14 in the third quarter, cutting the lead down to 49-43.
Floydada came out in the fourth quarter and scored a game-high 27 points to secure the victory, 76-61, over New Deal.
Floydada’s senior Aiden Trevino had 20 points and 7 rebounds in the win on Tuesday.
Junior Braun Hobbs recorded a double-double for the Whirlwinds with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Also contributing to the win on Tuesday night was junior Ty Henderson, who had 17 points and 9 rebounds.
Floydada moves to 1-0 in district play and 10-5 overall.
