HALE CENTER, TX – A district matchup against the Floydada Lady Winds and the Hale Center Lady Owls took place in Hale Center on Tuesday night.
Both teams went back and forth in the first half, creating opportunities on both ends of the floor, and would go into halftime tied at 27.
The Lady Owls came out in the third quarter and were able to take the lead, 40-36.
Late in the fourth quarter, both teams were tied at 45 with under five seconds to go when Zay Santos was fouled and went to the free throw line.
Santos was able to hit the game-winning free throw to secure the victory, 46-45, over the Lady Owls.
Junior Katelynn Ramirez led the Lady Winds in scoring on Tuesday with 17 points.
Floydada’s junior, Soriah Wickware, had a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Winds move to 1-0 in district and 12-3 overall.
