Nancy Jean Holland Marble, age 88, passed away Monday, October 23, 2023. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at South Plains Baptist Church.
Nancy Jean and twin sister Patsy Dean were born May 24, 1935, in Sherman, Texas to Robert Lee Holland and Frankie Juanita Powell. Nancy lived in Whitesboro, Texas, where her father was a cotton ginner until moving to Lockney in 1951. Nancy and Patsy played basketball and graduated from Lockney High School in 1953. She maintained friendships with her classmates from both schools throughout her lifetime.
Nancy and Donley Horace Marble were married on December 1, 1956, in Clovis, New Mexico. Nancy was an avid historian and genealogist. She helped many people research their own family history. She was a founding Board member of the Floyd County Historical Museum as well as a dedicated member of the Buffalo Grass Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy and Don were long-time cotton farmers in the Marble Brothers partnership with Don’s brothers, Fred and Keith, and their families. Nancy kept books in the early years and was always ready to follow a truck or tractor to the field; or go on a vacation anywhere that just happened to be having a farm equipment sale. They formed many close friends over the years while promoting the cotton farmer. Nancy was a long-time member of South Plains Baptist Church.
Nancy was predeceased by her husband Don in February 2015; her mother and father, Robert Lee and Nita Holland; as well as her brother, Robert Lee Holland, Jr.
Nancy is survived by her children, Donette Marble of Midland and Brett Marble, and wife Gayla of South Plains, Texas. Nancy is also survived by granddaughter Morgan Espe and husband Chase, and their girls, Bentley and Brynsley, and grandson Miles Marble and wife Shalie, all of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving Nancy is her twin sister, Patsy Musser of Lubbock, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
