LOCKNEY, TX – The Floyd County Record continues to spotlight the athletes that represent our communities, including junior Tucker Southard.
Tucker plays as the right tackle and defensive end for the Longhorns.
What has been the biggest change for you as a second-year varsity player?
The first year was getting used to the pace of the game, and now that I’m at that pace, I can play with those guys. I feel like it didn’t take long to adjust to the varsity side of things, but it’s just being constantly at that pace full time.
As the district season comes to an end, what is it going to take to remain undefeated?
We are going to have to keep our heads down and keep grinding. We have proven to people that we can beat a team, but we aren’t fully there yet. We still need to keep playing like underdogs.
What do you enjoy about football?
I like the team bonding; having all of my brothers and all of us move as one piece can make good things happen.
As well as football, Tucker is involved in playing baseball, powerlifting, and math UIL.
