LOCKNEY, TX – Lockney’s junior running back Xavier Jimenez has received the “2A Ford Built Tough Player of the Week” and will be featured in the latest episode on Bally Sports Southwest.
The player of the week is selected from each classification in the state of Texas (6A–2A and one private school nomination).
For Week 8 of Texas high school football, Lockney (5-1, 2-0) traveled to Sudan (4-3, 1-1) to battle the Hornets in a district game.
Jimenez contributed 323 yards on 43 carries on the ground and another 31 yards on two receptions to have 354 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns for the Longhorns in their 38-34 victory over Sudan.
Xavier was also a part of a Longhorn defense that was tasked with shutting down an explosive Sudan offense and was credited with four solo tackles and an interception in the game.
Xavier and the rest of the Lockney team look ahead to their next opponent, the Ralls Jackrabbits, on Friday in a battle for sole possession of the district.
Congratulations to Xavier Jimenez and the whole Lockney Longhorns football team on a great accomplishment!
