FLOYDADA, TX – Police Chief Reuben Ramon tendered his resignation on Tuesday night during a regular meeting of the Floydada City Council.

Ramon has served as the city’s Chief of Police since Daryl Gooch moved from that position to become city manager and also as the School Resource Officer at Floydada Collegiate ISD.

Though he is stepping down from the position effective September 29, 2023, Ramon will not be leaving the city offices as he’s accepted an interim position in the City Secretary’s office.

As the board discussed the upcoming retirement of City Secretary Patti Lowrance, effective on January 31, 2024, they moved to have Ramon shadow Lowrance over the next few months in hopes of a smooth transition.

The next step for the council members will be announcing a special meeting to discuss the position being vacated by Ramon and the future of the city’s police unit.
