FLOYDADA, TX – Due to a new law in Texas (HB 1819), cities and counties can no longer mandate curfews for minors.

As that law became effective on September 1, 2023, communities with a curfew have had to repeal the ordinance.

Tuesday night, the Floydada City Council officially repealed the curfew in an effort to be in compliance with the measure.

The State Legislature passed the bill in May, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed it into law on June 9, 2023.
