
LOCKNEY, TX – The 101st Floyd County Championship was held on Friday between the Floydada Whirlwinds and the Lockney Longhorns.
Floydada would score the first touchdown in the first quarter behind a Ty Henderson 14-yard run, taking a 7-0 lead.
The Whirlwinds would strike again, this time in the second quarter, behind another Ty Henderson run to extend the lead 14-0.
Henderson would connect to Giovanny Baltazar for a 23-yard touchdown pass and make it a 21-0 Whirlwind lead.
Before halftime, Henderson would lead one more drive down the field and cap it off with a big 30-yard touchdown run to take a 28-0 lead going into halftime.
Lockney would respond in the third quarter off of a Dyllan Thiebaud touchdown run to cut the lead down to 28-7.
Ty Henderson completed the hat-trick with his third rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, behind a 66-yard run for a 35-7 lead.
The Longhorns would strike twice more in the fourth to try and mount a comeback; however, it wasn’t enough, and the Whirlwinds would secure the victory 35-21 and retain the Floyd County Championship.
