FLOYDADA, TX – A full agenda awaits trustees of the Floydada Collegiate ISD School Board tonight.
The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and will include accepting resignations and approving employment contracts since their last meeting over a month ago (June 13, 2023).
Also on the agenda is the authorization to allow the Business Manager to calculate the “No-New Revenue Tax Rate and the Voter-Approval Tax Rate” as directed by the State Comptroller. The Comptroller best defines this as “truth-in-taxation requires most taxing units to calculate two rates after receiving a certified appraisal roll from the chief appraiser — the no-new-revenue tax rate and the voter-approval tax rate.” Also, the formula assumes that if values increase, the tax rate should decrease to create the same amount of revenue as it did the year before, or if values decrease, the tax rate will increase to produce the same amount of revenue.
As part of this, the Board will discuss the proposed budget for the upcoming school year, consider and take possible action on the adoption of a tax rate, and consider setting a public hearing for August 31, 2023, to discuss both.
